چکیده

The scope of this paper is to propose a system for the automatic derivation of a human curved walking trajectory from the analysis provided by its synthetic vision module. The study context is a planar environment with still and sparse foothold locations. A general methodology associates the two low-level modules of vision and walking with a planification module which establishes the middle term path from the knowledge of the visualized environment. The Planification is made under the constraint of minimizing the distance, the speed variation and the curvature cost. Moreover, the planification may trigger the alternate walking motion whenever the decreasing in curvature cost is higher than the associated increasing in speed variation cost due to the corresponding halt and restart. Finally, the characteristic of the next step location is derived in the context of a constant velocity walking motion along a circular trajectory. key words : synthetic vision, human walking, path planning

From Passive Dynamic Walking to Passive Turning of Biped walker

Dynamically stable biped robots mimicking human locomotion have received significant attention over the last few decades. Formerly, the existence of stable periodic gaits for straight walking of passive biped walkers was well known and investigated as the notion of passive dynamic walking. This study is aimed to elaborate this notion in the case of three dimensional (3D) walking and extend it f...

Curved walking in hemiparetic patients.

OBJECTIVE Curved walking requires complex adaptations, including shift of body weight to counteract the ensuing centrifugal force, and the production of strides of different length between legs. We hypothesized that gait capacities would be more stressed in hemiparetic patients than in healthy subjects when walking along curved, compared with straight, trajectories. METHODS Twenty chronic, st...

Developing a New Automatic Vision Defect Inspection System for Curved Surfaces with Highly Specular Reflection

This paper aims to create an automatic vision defect inspection system that is capable of detecting defects on highly specular reflection curved surfaces, especially for chrome-plated surfaces. These are strongly specular surfaces with very weak diffuse reflection. It is impossible to detect all the defects in one image in which defects may be covered by highlight regions or do not appear becau...

Towards view-invariant gait modeling: Computing view-normalized body part trajectories

This paper proposes an approach to compute view-normalized body part trajectories of pedestrians walking on potentially non-linear paths. The proposed approach finds applications in gait modeling, gait biometrics, and in medical gait analysis. Our approach uses the 2D trajectories of both feet and of the head extracted from the tracked silhouettes. On that basis, it computes the apparent walkin...

Computing and evaluating view-normalized body part trajectories

This paper proposes an approach to compute and evaluate view-normalized body part trajectories of pedestrians from monocular video sequences. The proposed approach uses the 2D trajectories of both feet and of the head extracted from the tracked silhouettes. On that basis, it segments the walking trajectory into piecewise linear segments. Finally, a normalization process is applied to head and f...
